The Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital welcomes you to participate in a support group for parents and guardians who have experienced the death of their child. Many parents/guardians have expressed the wish for support after the death of their child. This group was formed through the efforts of several parents working in partnership with staff members from the Children’s Hospital. It is an opportunity to meet, share, and support one another.
The support group will be facilitated by Paul Felker, MSW, LSW. Paul has 17 years of experience working with children and their families in a variety of settings. He is currently a clinical counselor who provides support to children, families, and staff throughout Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
The group will meet the first and third Monday of each month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning with light refreshments. The location is the University Conference Center. This building is located on the grounds of the hospital campus, adjacent to the hospital.
Although we recognize that death impacts the entire family, this group was designed to specifically meet the needs of parents and guardians. We believe it may be helpful for parents/guardians to get together with other parents/guardians to process their loss. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide child care.
Please call Paul Felker at 717-531- 0003, ext. 287781 (toll-free 1-866-204-0035, ext. 287781) if you are interested or want to learn more about the program. |
