Heart & Vascular Outpatient Care (HVOC)

The HVOC Unit is a ten-bed pre/post procedure care unit operating Monday through Saturday morning.  It is closed on the holidays.  Nursing staff provides care to patients undergoing non-surgical outpatient procedures.  Our nurse-to-patient ratio is 3-4:1.  The patient population including the following:

  • Interventional radiology
  • Anteriograms
  • Peripheral stents
  • Diagnostic cardiology procedures
  • Diagnostic radiology procedures
  • Pre and post procedure care
  • Myelograms/Discograms

Training
Orientation is four to six weeks in length with a consistent preceptor.
Desired Candidates
One to two years related experience in the outpatient procedure environment.  Candidates should possess strong clinical assessment skills and venipuncture skills.  ACLS certification will be expected within three to six months of employment.
