Penn State Cancer Institute - Inpatient Unit
The Penn State Cancer Institute is a thirty-two bed inpatient area consisting of twenty intermediate care unit beds and twelve acute care beds.  Nurses care for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies and those receiving peripheral blood stem cell transplants.  Our nurses are specially trained in chemotherapy administration and the care of complex intermediate care oncology patients, including those receiving:

  • Leukemic induction chemotherapy
  • Peripheral blood stem cell transplant: Autologous, Ablative and Non-Ablative Regimens
  • Biotherapy
  • Investigational Therapies

Construction is now under way on a five-story, 175,000 square-foot cancer center, which will serve as the center piece of the Penn State Cancer Institute, a statewide network of hospitals dedicated to providing the latest therapies and advanced care to cancer patients. The new facility will bring together leading-edge cancer treatment with ongoing cancer research in one complex.
