Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit | The NSICU is newly constructed, state of the art sixteen bed, high acuity unit offering a diverse population of critically ill neuroscience patients which may include, but not limited to the following diagnoses: -
Head and Spinal Cord Injuries -
Craniotomy for Tumor Resection -
Complex Spine Surgical Cases -
Cerebrovascular & Endovascular Interventions -
Complex Stroke Care -
Complex Non-operative Neurological Cases which may include Guillian-Barre -
All types of trauma patients with Head & Multi-System Involvement

Training We offer an eight-to-twelve-week orientation, a trauma course, ACLS certification, and a critical care course. A specific neuroscience course is in development and will be offered to all NSICU staff. CCRN or CNRN certification is expected after completing two years of NSICU experience. | Desired Candidates Experience in a Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit is preferred but general intensive care experience is acceptable, or two years of acute care medical/surgical experience, telemetry experience preferred. ACLS preferred. |

Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit | The NIMCU is a state of the art fifteen-bed step-down specializing in the care of patients with an emphasis on neuroscience patient population with diagnoses which include, but not limited to: -
Complex Surgical Spine Cases -
Functional Stereotactic Procedures -
Stroke Care -
Craniotomy for Tumor Resection -
Cerebrovascular & Endovascular Interventions -
Patients Not requiring Intensive Care, but Not Appropriate for Acute Care Nurse/patient ratio On this team, a nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 3:1 promotes professional growth and skill enhancements. Invasive monitoring is accepted on the unit. | Training All staff receive six-to-eight week orientation, depending on prior experience.
