Acute Care Medical Unit (6th Flr) | The challenge of medical nursing is best experienced on this thirty-two bed unit where nurses care for patients with complex, multi-system health problems. Our vision is to provide exceptional patient focused care by a team of highly skilled professional providers. We focus on communication, education, and support between staff, patients and their families. Nurses develop a wide breadth of knowledge combined with focused expertise unique to each subspecialty, including patients post MI and cardiac transplant, and those with hematologic and oncologic malignancies, chronic renal disease, adult cystic fibrosis, and other complex medical conditions. Our nurses practice under a collaborative, multi-disciplinary model while caring for a wide variety of patients in the following subspecialties:- Cardiology
- Oncology
- Neurology
- Gastroenterology
- Nephrology
- Pulmonary
- Infectious disease
- General Medicine
- Palliative care
| Training Specific education is provided in cardiac rhythm interpretation. ACLS is offered within one year of hire. Staff development is ongoing through educational programs designed to meet specific unit needs.
