Perioperative Nursing Course | The Penn State School of Nursing, along with the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development has teamed up to offer a Perioperative Nursing Course. Learn firsthand from our operating room nursing team by taking advantage of the Perioperative nursing opportunities at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. This four credit course is eight weeks in length and can be used towards an undergraduate degree. Upon completion of the course, you will begin orientation to all surgical specialties. Orientation will last approximately seven months. Please see the syllabus for our course content. | A Unique Learning Experience Designed to ease the transition from nursing student or experienced RN to a professional operating room nurse, the perioperative nursing course is a structured educational program offering training into the challenging specialty of Operating Room nursing. The program focuses on developing perioperative nursing practices, specifically surgery-related nursing interventions. Working side-by-side with an Operating Room staff nurse preceptor, you’ll share in the challenges and rewards that occur at our medical center, while enjoying personal growth and skills advancement. Peer support, nurturing and continuous feedback will be provided throughout the experience.
This is a paid educational experience. After successful completion of the program, you will be offered a position at the Medical Center with a competitive salary and benefits package. | Beginning in 2009 There will be bi-annual course offerings beginning in 2009.
