Acute Care Internship Program - Highlights
The emphasis of your Internship will be on spending clinical time applying knowledge to practice in regard to the nursing care of your selected patient population.
Other Highlights Include:
  • You’ll work 1:1 with a preceptor for the entire length of the program.
  • Each intern and preceptor will share one patient assignment.
  • The program will focus on assessment, priority setting, crucial thinking and delegation through case studies and “talk practice” sessions.
  • Clinical experiences are planned to be progressive in nature and include clinical logs and written narratives.
  • All interns participate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • You’ll work in an environment that includes state-of-the-art technology and services unique to an academic medical center.
  • You’ll interact with colleagues from nursing, medicine and health-related disciplines.
  • Continuous feedbacks will be provided from the preceptor, clinical nurse educators, instructors, nurse managers, and peers.
  • All interns will receive a certificate of completion to include in their professional profile.
  • All interns will develop a professional portfolio.
  • All interns will participate in evaluating the program, functioning as change agents for future programs.
